Practice Policies & Patient Information
Accessible Information Standard
We want to get better at communicating with our patients. We want to make sure you can read and understand the information we send you. If you find it hard to read our letters or if you need someone to support you at appointments, please let us know.
We want to know if you need information in braille, large print or easy to read. We want to know if you need a British Sign Language interpreter or advocate.
See our advocacy information in the further information part of our website.
Hearing (Induction) Loop
The practice has a portable induction hearing loop for those who are hard of hearing. It can be used at reception, or during a consultation with a Doctor. If you would like to use the hearing loop, just let us know at reception.
Care Quality Commission
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) are the independent regulator of health and adult social care in England.
The CQC make sure health and social care services provide people with safe, effective, compassionate, high-quality care and encourage them to improve.
They monitor, inspect and regulate services to make sure they meet fundamental standards of quality and safety and publish what is found, including performance ratings to help people choose care.
Our GP Practice has undergone a CQC inspection and the results are now freely available on the CQC Website.

Complaints
At Marple Bridge Surgery we do our utmost to provide you with the best possible care.
However if you have any concerns about your care then you can let us know verbally or in writing.
Please send written complaints to the practice manager via post or email to matthew.horobin@nhs.net
The practice procedure for handling complaints fully complies with the NHS complaints procedure. We will keep you fully informed during the process. If you wish you can also have your complaint reviewed by the parliamentary and healthcare ombudsman.
If you prefer to complain directly to the commissioning organisation you should contact Greater Manchester ICB.
Details of how to do this can be found on the following website, under the “Local area feedback and complaints” section
Intergrated Care Have your Say
If you have a disability or language difficulty, please let us know so we can help you. Additional support is available.
General Data Protection Regulations
Data Breach Notification Policy
Under the data protection regulations introduced in 2018 we will continue to contact patients via text message and email regarding the delivery of care if they have provided consent to do so.
If practices are sending messages about recommended treatment for the management of a specific health issue, then this is defined as providing appropriate care for patients, not marketing purposes.
If you would like to opt out of this service please inform reception.
GP Net Earnings
All GP practices are required to declare the mean earnings for GPs working to deliver NHS services to patients at each practice.
The average pay for GPs working at Marple Bridge Surgery in the last financial year was £62,390 before tax and National Insurance. This is for 2 full time GPs and 4 part time GPs.

National Data Opt-Out
Information about you and the care you receive is shared, in a secure system, by healthcare staff to support your treatment and care.
It is important that we, the NHS, can use this information to plan and improve services for all patients. We would like to link information from all the different places where you receive care, such as your GP, hospital and community service, to help us provide a full picture. This will allow us to compare the care you received in one area against the care you received in another, so we can see what has worked best.
Information such as your postcode and NHS number, but not your name, will be used to link your records in a secure system, so your identity is protected. Information which does not reveal your identity can then be used by others, such as researchers and those planning health services, to make sure we provide the best care possible for everyone.
You have a choice. If you are happy for your information to be used in this way you do not have to do anything. If you have any concerns or wish to prevent this from happening, please speak to practice staff.
We need to make sure that you know this is happening and the choices you have.

New Patient Registration Policy
We accept all in-area patient registration and may be able to accept out-of-area registrations should we feel we could provide the care you may need. We are a Safe Surgery and so lack of ID or proof of address, immigration status or language are not barriers to patient registration.
Our Doctors of the World Safe Surgeries lead is Dr Sam Pulman.
